Comfortable, buy yeah, too long.
I'm also 5'4, and yes, these were a couple of inches too long for me as well. I'm hemming them and keeping, but it would be nice to be able to wear right out of the box. Other than that, they are good enough for the price, I suppose.

Wayyyy too long
I ordered these pants last year (2010) in petite length. Upon arrival, they were so long I was sure they had been mistagged. Returned and reordered them, and the second pair was just as comically long. I'm 5'4", so on the tall side of the petite range -- but future buyers beware: mine absolutely couldn't be worn without hemming.

TOO LONG
The fit was fine, but the pants were 4-5 inches too long. I could have ordered any average length pants instead of spending time looking for petite if this is what I was going to get.
